No Surprises Act
Your right to a Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to know what your care will cost before you start.
Under federal law, health care providers must give patients who don't have certain types of health coverage, or who aren't using their insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for their care.
- You can ask for a Good Faith Estimate of the total expected cost of your counseling services.
- If you schedule at least 3 business days ahead, you'll receive it in writing within 1 business day. If you schedule at least 10 business days ahead, you'll receive it within 3 business days.
- You can also ask for an estimate before you schedule. You'll receive it within 3 business days of asking.
- If your bill is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
- Keep a copy or a picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
